Description
This is the first and only bass I've purchased new, so all the mistakes on it are mine! ;)

I bought it from Red Bank Music in NJ for $415.00 in 1979. It's not for sale; this one my kids will get.

It's a wonderful player with the maple 'A' neck, fat fret wire, and that, apparently rare, translucent cherry body. The Dimarzio Jazz pickup was added by Phillip J. Petillo in 1981. It's closer to the bridge than a standard Jazz Bass, by about an inch, which gives it a remarkable tone with a bite. The split pickups were replaced in 1982 with Dimarzios, as well. The bridge is back to the original (no longer the Badass II in the photo). The strings are Thomastik Infeld JR-344 Jazz Bass roundwounds.  If I were to describe the tone in general, I would say it almost reached that crunchy sound of a Rick 4001 while maintaining the warmth of the original P.

...and, man, it's heavy!
