Ballot Argument in Favor of Measure C

We have excellent schools in Walnut Creek. They have served the community for generations. Recent renovation projects have been funded by a combination of local bond funds and state matching grants. To ensure these schools will continue to serve generations of additional students, these improvements must be made.

While greatly improved, the schools in the Walnut Creek School District are 40 years old and require additional funding to fully complete all planned repair and renovation projects.

A Yes vote on Measure C will:

  • Build a new library at the middle school.
  • Improve school safety and security systems.
  • Renovate and improve the fields at each school.
  • Improve student access to information by upgrading the technological infrastructure used to link the classrooms and computers in the District.

Measure C will not increase the current tax rate any taxpayer is paying in local school taxes. By extending the bond authorization approved by voters in 1995, Measure C will generate $20 million to complete these projects.

Measure C has strict accountability to the taxpayers. An independent citizens’ oversight committee will monitor all bond funds. An annual audit will be completed to review bond expenditures. By law, none of the funds from Measure C can be used for administrator or teacher salaries.

A Yes vote on Measure C will protect and enhance all of our property values. Good schools make great communities. Please join us with your Yes vote on Measure C.
